What does a Shaka have to do with mic technique? 🤙🎙️

Hi there,

Got a case of the Tuesday after a long weekend blues? Today’s tips will cheer you right up! Or at least distract you for a bit.

TIP 1 - Use the Shaka sign to measure you mouth to mic distance

Yep, the perfect distance between your mouth and mic is one shaka. (Don’t know the shaka? 🤙 Extend your pinky and thumb as far out from your hand as is comfortable and curl your other fingers into your palm. See gif below for a demonstration.)

Bonus: The shaka sign is a good reminder to “hang loose” and relax while talking.

TIP 2 - Target B-Listers not A-Listers to be guests on your podcast

Getting an A-Lister can be exciting and is great for credibility but likely won’t grow your podcast. Why? They’re usually too busy to promote their appearance on your show. So focus on B-Listers - people who are hyper-successful in their industry but aren’t as appreciated or recognized.

TIP 3 -  Use AI tools to help you be more creative

How? Letting it do the grunt work means you have more focus and flow for the right stuff: making the creative decisions on your piece of content.

“[AI] is like having a super car sitting outside your house. It can go in any direction and end up in any place eventually. But you have to decide where to go, and you have to drive it there. The tool is nothing without the human behind the wheel.”
